Per Mårtensson
Per Mårtensson is Artistic Director of the school and is teaching in composition, aesthetics/ analysis and live electronics.
Born in Östersund, 1967. Per Mårtensson studied the history of ideas at the University of Stockholm, and went on to study musical composition at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (1990-1997).1997-98 he studied at IRCAM in Paris, where he participated in a research project on a real-time implementation of virtual strings.
His main interest is in instrumental music but in a series of pieces he has investigated the possibilities of live electronics. He has also written film music and music for dance performances. Between 2001-03 he was "Composer in Residence" at Swedish National Radio, ch 2. The spring semester 2007 he was Visiting Professor in composition at Indiana University, Bloomington, USA.
He has contributed articles to Nutida Musik (Music today), and 'Notera tiden', a book published by the Royal Academy of Music.
