Gotlandsmusiken commissioned new work of Peter van Tour
Gotlandsmusikens commissioned a new work for the 2010 of our teacher in music theory, Peter van Tour. The piece 'Circles and Clouds' is written för wind quintet and string quintet and will be premiered the 27th of april 2010.

"Unheard of Again" won the "Grammis" prize
Sonanza's CD "Unheard of - Again" beginning with Timeline as track #1 won the Swedish Grammis prize 2009. Former student Mattias Lysell participates and so does prof. Karin Rehnqvist who is the only composer that has been invited to lecture at the Ljudvågor festival twice. The conductor is Jan Risberg who has participated on every Ljudvågor-festival. Sonanza was ensemble in residence at the Gotland School of Music Composition 1999-2001.

Henrik Strindberg's Timeline is nominated for a Grammis
Unheard of Again with the chamber ensemble Sonanza is nominated for a Grammis 2010 in the category Best Classical CD. The first track is Timeline by Henrik Strindberg. The conductor is Jan Risberg who has participated on every Ljudvågor-festival. Sonanza was ensemble in residence
at the Gotland School of Music Composition 1999-2001.

Per Mårtensson receives prize!
Devotion by Per Mårtensson was awarded the Swedish Music Publishers Association's prize 2009 for best chamber music! The prize is a small statue by Sweden's most prominent glass artist Beril Vallien.

Swedish Radio channel P2 has selected Mirjam Tal to be composer in residence for the two years.

Watch Matthew Peterson's premiere on screencast
Matthew Peterson received a Fulbright grant to study at the Gotland School of Music Composition. He completed his "Reflections on the Death of the Beloved" during the fall 2008. The premiere by St. Olaf Band can be seen on this screencast. Matthews's piece begins at 30:10, with pre-performance words at 27:06.

Per Mårtensson and Mirjam Tally receiwed the big and the small Christ Johnson-prizes
2008 Christ Johnson-prizes where delivered by the Crown Princess her Majesty Victoria on the feast-day of the Royal Academy of Music. The big prize of 180.000kr was given to Per Mårtensson for this Flute concerto. The small prize of 60.000 SEK was given to Mirjam Tally for her orchestral piece Turbulence.

Sofia Jernberg was rewarded by the Royal Academy of Music!

Sofia Jernberg has received the Jazz Prize of the Royal Academy of Music. The prize was delivered by Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria.
